WHEN YOU ASK SOMEONE WHERE THEIR DREAM TRAVEL DESTINATION IS, YOU COLLECT NAMES OF FOREIGN LANDS LIKE BALI, INDIA, NEW YORK, BALI… FORTUNATELY FOR THESE LUCKY LADIES, THESE PLACES THEY EITHER HAVE STAMPS ON THEIR ALREADY WORN PASSPORTS, OR THEY CALL HOME.

HAVING BEEN RAISED IN CALIFORNIA AND THEN TRANSPLANTED TO BALI FOR FIVE OR SO YEARS, THEY THEN MOVED TO NEW YORK, AND NOW CALL BYRON BAY AUSTRALIA HOME. WITH PLANS TO MOVE TO EUROPE AND FINALLY BACK TO THE UNITED STATES, THESE YOUNG FASHIONISTAS HAVE ACCENTS YOU CAN’T QUITE PLACE, AN INTERNATIONAL STYLE, AND OF COURSE, THEY ALWAYS DREAM BIG. WE CAN’T WAIT TO SEE WHERE THESE LADIES HEAD IN THE FUTURE, BUT WE KNOW ONE THING FOR SURE, JAIDEN AND MILLA STEELE ARE NAMES TO REMEMBER.

WITH SUCH AMAZING CREATIVE PARENTS (DADDY IS RENOWNED FILMMAKER TAYLOR STEELE AND MOMMA IS PHOTOG SYBIL STEELE) WE WERE LUCKY TO HANG WITH THESE TWO FASHIONISTAS DURING OUR AUSTRALIAN GETAWAY AND CATCH UP WITH A LITTLE Q+A.

Q+A WITH JAIDEN AND MILLA:

Where is your favorite place you have lived?
M– New York for the snow and Bali for the rice fields
J-Australia. It’s easy to make friends and it’s really pretty here.
Favorite food? Weirdest thing you have ever eaten?
M-Sausage, rice and seaweed are my favorite. I also like cucumbers and carrots.
Weirdest food is what the bears eat. Porridge.
J– I like mac n cheese, quesadillas. Also broccoli, cauliflower, cucumbers, bell peppers, corn and carrots. Weirdest food is seaweed.
Favorite thing about Bali?
M-My friends.
J-Cici, our nanny.
One piece or two piece bikinis?
M– I love my strawberry rash guard with bottoms (Kimi and Li)
J– 2 piece.
Favorite hobby?
M-Critter country (small toy animals) and swimming.
J-drawing and swimming.
Place you want to travel to?
M– Paris
J-Europe
Favorite Color? Why?
M-pink and white. I like to mix them together.
J-rainbow
What do you want to be when you grow up?
M– artist

Jai’s heart. That is inside her body.

Where is your favorite place to travel?
My favorite place in the world to travel is home to Bondi Sydney.
I travel constantly, about 8 months of the year so I am most excited to be back in my own bed.

Favorite Beach?
Yallingup Beach South Coast Western Australia

Most exotic thing you have ever eaten? Where?
There is a fruit in the tropics called Mangosteen. Hard purple shell with the most delicious juicy white fruit inside.

Tan lines or no tan lines?
Tan lines but not on top

Best surfing memory?
20 years old, the only girl amongst 4 of my best guy mates. Every summer morning we pack the old wagon, drive a long dirt road down to the most beautiful white sand surf spot and crystal clear blue waters in the south coast of Australia. We owned the beach, not a soul in site.

Favorite MIKOH suit?
Black Bandage One Piece Bikini. Holds everything in and so so sexy

Plans for the future?
I only live in the present.

Biggest accomplishment in life so far?
10 years of Story by Tang this year and the company is still going strong.

Favorite piece in your collection?

Where is your favorite place to travel? India hands down. I just went last year for the first time and the colors in Rajasthan blew my mind. Candy colored turbans everywhere, the most beautiful people, textiles and the flavors and spices. Also the religious festivals are incredibly visual and so inspiring to photograph. I can’t wait to go back.

2. Favorite Beach? It’s a toss up between Caribbean waters and where I live now in Byron Bay. The beaches here are some of my favorite. I love how the sand squeaks and shorelines are so dramatic looking. Plus there are secret beaches and surprises everywhere.

3. Most exotic thing you have ever eaten? Where? Probably some stuff where I wasn’t actually sure what it was in Japan or Morocco. I’d rather not know, it’s all in the past.

4. Tan lines or no tan lines? I’d prefer none but I got some.

5. Best surfing memory? At our wedding in Tortola with all of our best friends, cruising all day on longboards, cocktails in hand on the beach. I remember it like a super 8 film, a dreamy memory.

6. Favorite MIKOH suit? The Reunion top and Bali bottom is the perfect blend of chic, sexy and comfortable.

7. Plans for the future? I have big plans! This is the first time in a long time I’ve felt settled somewhere so slowly taking the right steps to make a few career dreams come true. Fashion photography is a passion and women’s causes/non violence is where my heart is. If I could channel my photography to help bring awareness to some of these programs, that would be the best laid plan.

8. Biggest accomplishment in life so far? My gypsy family/girls who have traveled the world, made some amazing friends, love art and music and are really sweet girls, with some spice thrown in there too of course! The first time Oleema and I hung out in Bali, we must have talked about moms and daughters the whole time-I think I asked her 100 questions about how you guys were raised. It’s very special!

Q+A WITH LAUREN…

Where is your favorite place to travel? Cortina, Italy. I’ve turned into more of beach girl, but part of my heart still belongs in the mountains. Good pasta, great wine, and the dolomites. Yum!!

2. Favorite Beach? My favorite beach so far is Tavarua, Fiji. A heart shaped island in the middle of the Pacific. What more can you as for? I also love Harbor Island in the Bahamas for taking pics… and morning dog walks in Marina Del Rey.

3. Most exotic thing you have ever eaten? Where? This is not exotic at all…. I hated anchovies but at a recent trip to Gjelina I tried ’em again and they actually tasted good!

4. Tan lines or no tan lines? I like tan lines as long as they aren’t granny panty tan lines.

5. Best surfing memory? Best surfing memory is getting lessons from my man at Avocados in Encinitas.

6. Favorite MIKOH suit? My favorite MIKOH suit is the Corsica top and Lanai bottoms. So sexy.

7. Plans for the future? Future plans? So much to look forward to! I hope to always have photography as a creative outlet and continue to travel the world… and go to Bali with the MIKOH ladies soon.

8. Biggest accomplishment in life so far?

hmmmmm……I climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro with two of my close friends to raise money for “Right to Play.” I am also stoked to have made a somewhat easy transition from skiing into the photography world.
