You probably already know swimwear line Mikoh: Pictures of the meticulously cut, cheeky-but-still-super-chic suits are scattered across practically every celeb’s Instagram feed. So it might surprise you that the line’s founders—San Clemente, Calif.-based sisters Oleema and Kalani Miller—aren’t bikini-clad all day long. “You should see us directing a shoot in the tropics for nine hours!” says Kalani. “Huge hats, long sleeves, sunglasses, everything!” But once they’re out of the sun, the duo credit their good skin to “slightly OCD” cleansing regimens—“My friends all know I have a minor to major obsession with showering!” laughs Oleema.
THEIR GRIME-OBLITERATING SCRUB:
KALANI: “You definitely don’t want sunscreen sitting on your skin at the end of the day—it clogs your pores. I really like using a coffee or coconut scrub after I’m out at the beach. Actually, my boyfriend [surfing legend Kelly Slater] made one for me for Valentine’s Day out of coffee, sea salt, and coconut oil—it was super cute and really good at exfoliating!”
THEIR BREAKOUT-AVOIDING STRATEGIES:
KALANI: “Every two weeks or so I give myself a full facial to get rid of all the junk that’s built up on my face. I use a clay mask [try Malin + Goetz Clarifying Clay Mask, $48, barneys.com], plus Clarisea Sea Salt Solutions Rapid Detox Charcoal Exfoliant [$18, birchbox.com]. It literally looks like a little salt shaker, so I’ll tap that into my mud mask. I’ll put on face oil when done, and my skin really does glow afterward.”
THEIR AFTER-SUN EYE SOOTHERS:
OLEEMA: “If my eyes are irritated from the water or sun, I’ll put two teaspoons in the freezer, then place them on my eyelids for a few minutes; something about the cold metal makes them feel better instantly. I’ll also put ice cubes directly on a sunburn—it brings down inflammation, and sort of tricks your body into thinking it’s not burned. I know all the weird tricks of the trade!”
KALANI: “I’m a believer in eye cream, both under my sunscreen in the mornings and at night before bed. Perricone High Potency Eye Lift [$98, sephora.com] really helps fight wrinkles—especially after being in the sun.”
