What inspired you to start Sirène?

I found it hard to find a unique and curated selection of swimwear even in New York City. I am an avid online shopper and also found that even online there weren’t any great US based online retailers with a swimwear focus.  I love the beach, bikini’s and am always traveling plus my background in ecommerce and buying made me realize it could be more than just a dream.

Where does Sirène get it’s name?

Sirène is the french word for mermaid, I am more than a little obsessed with mermaids.

Where do you envision Sirène in 5 years?

I would love to expand the website offerings to include everything you need for the beach such as amazing hard to find sunscreens, beach blankets, and other accessories. I also would love to eventually collaborate on Sirène exclusive designs or prints.

Where is your favorite place to travel?

I love to different locations on every trip! My most recent trip was to Oahu and Kauai, I love the beach culture out there! I really want to go back to Costa Rica and explore some of the more hard to find spots, that country is so diverse and amazing!  Oh and I also am dying to go back to Capri- it’s simple stunning.

Favorite Beach?

I have many favorite beaches, I will pick two. First was a beach right where I stayed on the island of Tobago. It was in a small cove, had amazing snorkeling and the best body surfing I have ever encountered. The second was in Tyrona Park in Colombia there was as series of beaches each with different sand – one had so much mica in it it looked like gold!

Most exotic thing you have ever eaten? Where?

Ooh that’s so tough! I am very food adventurous, I would say it’s a tie between a Cuy Confit in Cusco, Peru and a Fruit called Guama aka “ice cream bean” that has these deliciously cooling and oddly furry seed pods from side of the road fruit stand near Santa Marta, Colombia.

Tan lines or no tan lines?

No tan lines on top if I can get away with it!

Best surfing memory?

I just started surfing in Kauai on Poipu Beach this past trip! I loved it, going to try again in Montauk this summer.

Favorite MIKOH suit?

I LOVE the MIKOH Maldives top & Lanai bottom in the bright Kelp Palm; it really pops with a bit of a tan and I love the multiple straps.  Also the Corsica top and Tortola bottom in sand is incredibly sexy!

Plans for the future?

Aside from growing Sirène, I also do ecommerce consulting and site design for small businesses like mine. I love working on new projects and being really busy! Working freelance still let’s me work on Sirène and I get to travel which is my favorite luxury.

Biggest accomplishment in life so far?

My biggest accomplishment has been creating Sirène and launching it on my own. It’s the scariest and most rewarding thing I have ever done!
