We would love to take the time to introduce a very close and very talented friend of ours, world renowned surf photographer, Todd Glaser. MIKOH was lucky enough to have some of Todd’s captures as part of the Aloha Collection’s T Shirt line as well as an ongoing inspiration for us.
We caught up with Todd to ask the man behind the lens a few questions about his craft.
What is your favorite tropical location to shoot at?
The crystal clear water off the coast of the small island of Tavarua in Fiji is one of my favorite places to shoot at. Shooting underwater is one of my favorite ways to make images and the water there is some of the bluest, clearest water I have ever seen. Whenever we get to go there on a shoot, the local Fijians make us feel like home and in-between surfing and shooting, the fishing is amazing.
How long have you been shooting photos?
I got my first camera and warehousing when I was 15 and have been hooked ever since.
Most memorable photo?
It’s hard to say which is the most memorable image, but the first one that came to mind was an image that Kelly and I made off a small atoll in the South Pacific a couple of years ago. We had talked about shooting with a particular wide-angle, rectilinear lens for a couple of years beforehand and when we got the chance to chase a swell and make it happen it stuck out to me a lot. Anytime we get to shoot underwater it’s a treat. Who knows though…We might make our new favorite photo tomorrow?!!
Bucket list place to go…
I’ve always wanted to go to Ireland. One of these days I’ll make it there.
