Q+A WITH SYBIL
Where is your favorite place to travel? India hands down. I just went last year for the first time and the colors in Rajasthan blew my mind. Candy colored turbans everywhere, the most beautiful people, textiles and the flavors and spices. Also the religious festivals are incredibly visual and so inspiring to photograph. I can’t wait to go back.
2. Favorite Beach? It’s a toss up between Caribbean waters and where I live now in Byron Bay. The beaches here are some of my favorite. I love how the sand squeaks and shorelines are so dramatic looking. Plus there are secret beaches and surprises everywhere.
3. Most exotic thing you have ever eaten? Where? Probably some stuff where I wasn’t actually sure what it was in Japan or Morocco. I’d rather not know, it’s all in the past.
4. Tan lines or no tan lines? I’d prefer none but I got some.
5. Best surfing memory? At our wedding in Tortola with all of our best friends, cruising all day on longboards, cocktails in hand on the beach. I remember it like a super 8 film, a dreamy memory.
6. Favorite MIKOH suit? The Reunion top and Bali bottom is the perfect blend of chic, sexy and comfortable.
7. Plans for the future? I have big plans! This is the first time in a long time I’ve felt settled somewhere so slowly taking the right steps to make a few career dreams come true. Fashion photography is a passion and women’s causes/non violence is where my heart is. If I could channel my photography to help bring awareness to some of these programs, that would be the best laid plan.
8. Biggest accomplishment in life so far? My gypsy family/girls who have traveled the world, made some amazing friends, love art and music and are really sweet girls, with some spice thrown in there too of course! The first time Oleema and I hung out in Bali, we must have talked about moms and daughters the whole time-I think I asked her 100 questions about how you guys were raised. It’s very special!
