During my short stay in San Juan I visited Condado beach every day. Whether in the morning to dive in before hitting the city or in the afternoon to cool off, I felt drawn to the area. Perhaps I was persuaded by The Rum Diary– some of the book takes place in Condado. As a neighborhood, the area boasts dive bars, tourist attractions, and of course, the beach. It has a rich history, and my friend collects vintage aerial photos of the cityscape. My favorite thing was this rad wall covered in graffiti just steps away from the water.
To be honest, I was holding out hope for finding “Al’s Backyard,” I but such was not the case. So it goes.
