EDDIE WOULD GO MEETS MIKOH X SURF

Every year, surfers from around the globe gather for the prestigious Eddie contest at Waimea Bay on Oahu. The contest only runs when the waves are consistently over 20 foot (eeeek!) for the entire day. The holding period for the contest is multiple months as the big wave surfers wait for the special swell to hit the Hawaiian Island. This year, there is talks of the Eddie running, which is held in memory of Hawaiian waterman, Eddie Aikau.

The mantra, “Eddie Would Go,” is splattered across tailgates and car windows, and inspires all to charge and embrace life. We are excited to see if the Eddie contest will run! Follow the contest and watch it live here.

Inspired by all things surf, see below for some of our go to picks from the MIKOH X SURF collection, which was photographed here in Hawaii. Shop the MIKOH X SURF collection HERE.

Bali-1-59

Bali. I feel like I couldn’t even possibly put my entire trip into words, it’s a place you need to experience for yourself. That doesn’t mean I’m not going to try and do my best to give you guys a feel for the Bali experience. I’ve wanted to go to Bali my entire life, it’s been one of my biggest dreams. It’s my favorite trip I’ve ever been on so far, in my entire life of traveling.

This post will be part one of a two part post. Part one is going to be about the beautiful pools in Bali, the resort I stayed at in Ubud, and everything swim.

I’m not super familiar with the entire lay out of Bali, but basically on my trip I visited the jungle side which is Ubud and then ended my trip in Cannguu & Seminyak. Ubud is super relaxed and zen which is very different from Cannguu & Seminyak, those two being more city and busy. We wanted to start in Ubud so we could relax and just hang out after all the flying (27 total hours in the air from LA- on the route I took).

In Ubud we stayed at Uma Como Hotel Resort for 3 total nights and 4 days. Ubud is super laid back, the kind of place where you wake up to get breakfast (which was freaking amazing at the resort) at 7am and are in bed by 9pm. Breakfast was a spread of some of the freshest and best food I’ve ever tasted, which means a lot coming from all organic LA living. Green juices, fresh dragon fruit, egg white omelets, anyway you name it they had it! Dinner was also insanely amazing at the hotel. I stayed in two different rooms over my stay in Ubud, both in which I was in bathtub heaven. The first one had the most amazing black stone bathtub which was outside. Everything in Bali is outdoors except the bedroom typically is inside, or somewhat covered. The second room we stayed in didn’t have as cool of bathroom set up but we had our own private infinity pool which was insanity. The pools in Bali are ridiculously amazing and look like something out of a dreamy movie. The weather is HOT and HUMID. Seriously, when I go to Mexico I can get away with wearing long sleeve linen and silk tank dresses. Not in Bali. You seriously won’t want to wear anything but shorts and bikini tops, or linen tank dresses. The second you get outside you’re dripping with sweat, but you get super used to it. I wore so many different suits the whole time… my favorite was the red Eres one piece, because it sucks you in and hits all the right spots. Such a worth while investment. Aside from all the dreamy pools and bathtub situations, my other favorite experiences at the resort were yoga and spa treatments. I had one of the best massages of my life and did yoga at 5pm overlooking the entire jungle. The yoga instructors there don’t mess around. They really take it to the next level, in a good way.

Ok moving on to other parts of Ubud. Don’t do the monkey forest, because the monkey’s are assholes and throw stuff at humans and can possibly hurt you (we just drove past, didn’t actually go in). You’ll need to rent a scooter to get around, they’re like 10-20$ a day. Its honestly the only way to get around and not sit in traffic. Make sure you get bug spray and use it hourly, the bugs there don’t mess around, but bug spray really works wonders! If you’re coming from the US or anywhere pretty much your money will go a long way. Bali is SUPER inexpensive, secrets out! You can get some of the best food thats super fresh on so many different levels for dirty cheap. My boyfriend and I had a full breakfast, 2 green juices, 2 coffee’s 2 eggs Benedict’s, and an appetizer for $20, it’s literally insane. The food quality was better than some of my favorite places in LA.

If you rent a scooter, which you should, look into getting anInternational drivers license. It costs $20 and it takes like a second. You can get it in Bali or from AAA before you go. This will help you incase you get pulled over. The cops there are always trying to get tourists to pay money for dumb things that don’t even make sense. If you have the license they’ll leave you alone.

Below I have a little recap of all the restaurants & shops in Ubud.

Going to be posting the second part next week, stay tuned!

Alchemy– for vegan food and juice, it’s got such a good vibe.
