Picture this: You get up every day and slog away at an office, working on a creative project with … your sister. That might not work for all of us — but for the Oleema and Kalani Miller, the sibs behind blockbuster swim brand MIKOH, life together is literally a beach. If the selfies of the two of them together on both of their Instas is any indication, these two geniunely adore each other, and clearly have a good thing going with their business strategy — which seems to involve lotsa surfing, sunshine, and figuring out exactly what women want from their swimwear.
It was fun to catch up with the Miller sisters and chat resolutions, beaches, and where they’re headed in 2017.
BIKINI: Do you two have any New Year’s resolutions?
THE MILLERS: Travel more to new places — the best way to learn about cultures and gather inspiration is by going to explore and see new places. We have Thailand on our bucket list for 2017!
BIKINI: What beaches are on your must-see list for 2017?
THE MILLERS: We both spend months out of the year in Hawaii. We would love to explore our backyard and neighboring islands. Kauai is known as one of the most lush islands in the world, and we would love to hike to beaches that you can only reach via hike, like Secret Beach.
BIKINI: Can you tell us about the inspiration for the next Mikoh collection?
THE MILLERS: You’ll have to wait and see!
BIKINI: Do you have any fave instagram accounts?
THE MILLERS: We love @chrissyteigan @erinfoster — both are hilarious — and @bikinidotcom, of course.
BIKINI: Trend-wise, what do you think is going to be big news in swim in 2017?
THE MILLERS: We think that there is a big “back to basics” trend right now. Also, we are loving our fuller coverage pieces, like the Mediterranean one piece. Of course, details are always key, and the Loihi top and Bankok top both have understated but impactful details. We are loving tropical prints!

MIKOH X FALL IS HERE
A warm breeze, rich with salt rustles the curtains of a little Hawaiian beach home. Sand is sprinkled and strewn about the polished bamboo floor like stars across the Milky Way. Here, the line between inside and outside is blurred. Life is lived in a gentle current of the horizonless ocean, meals are cooked in the company of misty rain and the sun’s rays alike, and swimwear belongs in the coziness of the couch as much as it does the beach just a few footsteps away.
After a fulfilling, bikini clad day of surfing and swimming, a cool shower, a nourishing dinner, and the comfort of real clothes is tangible temptation. As the sun begins to set and dusky shades of guava pink and tangerine infuse the sky, delicate clinking of glasses accompanies the ever present laughter of friends and family lounging in the bliss of the islands.

We caught up with one of the most inspiring ladies we know, Tara of The Lady Slider. This quadruple threat (photog, stylist, consultant, and all around badass) is based in Hawaii and is a creative genius. She captures the beauty of Hawaii in her photographs and we were lucky enough to have her shoot our MIKOH MINI campaign. Not to mention, she just self taught herself to fly a drone. She captured the below photos of the cutest little baby and momma duo we have seen. Scroll to the bottom to see a sneak peek of MIKOH MINI from the Polynesia Collection (coming soon).
Her positive energy is infectious and her original point of a view behind a sense captures intimate and special moments. We caught up with her in Hawaii to get an inside look inside the mind of The Lady Slider.

1. WHEN DID YOU START TAKING PHOTOS? FAVORITE JOB TO DATE?
I’ve had a love affair with photography my whole life. It was always on again off again until I started my blog 5 years ago and began taking photos more seriously. My favorite jobs usually aren’t jobs. I especially love working on my art photography (queue coconut trees and waves). I also love getting together with a bunch of other creatives and shooting editorials. I love the freedom and energy that comes from those shoots. You can get as wild as you want and work collaboratively without the pressure of delivering a particular kind of imagery for a client.
2. DREAM DESTINATION?
Home.
3. WHERE IS YOUR FAVORITE PLACE YOU HAVE EVER TRAVELED TO?
It’s hard to call a particular destination my favorite. It’s like having 5 kids and having to decide on which one you like best. Everywhere I’ve been has taught me something different and the people, culture, food, and environment are all so unique. And there are still so many places I want to travel to!

If I’ve got a talent I ain’t hiding it! Hahah.. unfortunately I don’t think I have any sort of hidden talent. What you see is what you get!
7. WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN FIVE YEARS?
Hopefully in early retirement and/or finding out and living life with a trust fund. Haha.
BAHAMA MOMMA
ONE OF THE MOST DREAMY GETAWAYS YOU CAN IMAGINE IS THE BAHAMAS. THIS YEAR, POST MIAMI, WE BOOKED THE ONE HOUR FLIGHT DOWN TO GUANA CAY. ONCE LANDING IN TREASURE CAY AIRPORT (YES… IT IS EVERY BIT OF A TREASURE YOU CAN IMAGINE), IT IS HOP ON A BOAT AND HEAD TO THE ISLAND.
THE BAHAMAS ARE MADE UP OF OVER 700 ISLANDS AND CAYS, AND GUANA IS HOME TO SOME OF THE MOST CLEAR AND TROPICAL WATER THAT ONLY DREAMS ARE MADE OF.
WE VISITED THE WILD PIGS ON ABACO AND FED THEM BAGELS AND GAVE THEM WATER BEFORE JETTING OFF ON THE BOAT TO SWIM WITH SHARKS AND STING RAYS.
IT WAS 10 DAYS OF SALT, SAND, AND SUN. WE ARE ALREADY COUNTING DOWN THE DAYS UNTIL WE CAN GO AGAIN.
